How is it ok that the replay machine was down for a period in the middle of the Broncos game and screwed up a call? Is their no back up plan in case this happens? Why does football have to be different and have the replays reviewed at the stadium? They should do what baseball and hockey does and have it be reviewed in a central location, i.e. Toronto and New York City (i believe it’s NYC)

there were two sports travesties that occurred on Sunday, and I’m still torn as to which is worse. There was the awful fumble call in the Broncos vs. Chargers football game in which the Chargers were handed a loss by the officials because they blew the whistle for no reason. Even if they thought it was an actual pass, the ball went backwards, which would mean it was a lateral. So in no way should the whistle have been blown. The other travesty, which probably isnt AS bad was the Houston Astros being forced to play the Cubs in Milwaukee, essentially giving the Cubs a home game. There are 16 major league baseball parks not being used on any given day (half the teams), so why were they forced to play in Milwaukee of all places? Sometimes decisions like both of these lead me to think that sports may be rigged because they are inexcusable and make zero sense to me. The Astros at least still could have played well and won the game, that is their fault, but they were definitely were given more difficult circumstances than they should have had to deal with (although the way Big Z was pitching, it might not have really mattered). The Chargers loss is inexcusable. Replay is to get the play correct, and they didn’t. It was obvious that the Chargers regained the ball, so they should have just gotten it right, I don’t care about the rules.

that’s all that matters. we have a one game lead over everyone in the NFC that starts the season 0-1. love it. i can now watch football highlights for the week.
ps-as a Giants fan I’m not sold, but Brandon Jacobs is SICK. sick!! look at his per game numbers. Us Big Blue fans just hope he can play a whole season.

Was there a single positive with that game? You can’t stop the pass. Your coaching is terrible. Portis, who won’t last 10 games, lead in rushing, and you let the ‘second best team in the division’ do whatever they want.
I said you guys might go 7-9, but the way this team and coaching staff looked, you might win 5.

lol, awesome. so true. erin is not tough to say, and every guy, and every person that follows ESPN knows who Erin is.
shorterexcerpts:
Send a memo out to your idiot Thursday night color guys (or, better yet, go ahead and fire Jesse Palmer. Sure, until he gets another job, the hair gel companies will suffer, but he’s a brobdingnagian ass haberdasher) to stop calling Erin Andrews “EA.”
EA is Electronic Arts, makers of such glorious titles as Madden and NCAA Football.
Her first name is all of two sylables long. I think you can handle it.

I’m sorry, but I have never seen worse clock management in my entire life. I dont care if it’s a first year coach or not, you have to have someone in your ear making it clear to you how the clock is going to play out. Not to mention their affinity for calling running plays while down two scores with 4 minutes left. What is this guy thinking? Someone please help me. Or at least help him. This coach obviously doesn’t know football, otherwise he wouldn’t have run the ball 5 times with less than 5 minutes left, planning on ‘winning the on-sides kick’…..was he thinking otherwise?

if you ask me. Tomorrow is one of the best days of the year. It’s football season. And while every game makes me nervous being a Giants fan, I’ll never understand why the spread of the game against the Redskins tomorrow is only 3.5 or 4, depending on where you look. It’s a home game for the Giants, they are the reigning Super Bowl Champions, and are playing what some would call a mediocre team. Granted, most intra division games are usually close, but I don’t think this spread seems to be accurate of what could play out.

I have noticed lately that things have gotten very quiet amongst the Phillies, Brewers and Cubs fans. Could it be the Phillies can’t seem to gain any games on the Mets although our bullpen is horrendous right now and all four stars are yet to be hot at the same time? Could it be the recent sweep of the Brewers after their talkative manager had just said he would rather win the wild card and play the winner of the east than win the division? Maybe it’s the soon to be 5 game losing streak for ‘the best team in baseball’, and the injury to Carlos Zambrano who just hasn’t been able to string together a bunch of good starts all season. I don’t know what it is, but I like the quiet.
although I’m sure a nice losing streak will inevitably follow this post

Suck it. Your manager couldnt be a bigger idiot. Lidge is warming up and ready in the 8th inning and there’s two outs, the Delgado has an excellent history against the current pitcher, Rudy Seanez, yet you dont bring in Lidge until after Seanez lets up a homerun to Delgado.
Genius. Thanks for giving us first place back.
