Instant Replay
How is it ok that the replay machine was down for a period in the middle of the Broncos game and screwed up a call?  Is their no back up plan in case this happens?  Why does football have to be different and have the replays reviewed at the stadium?  They should do what baseball and hockey does and have it be reviewed in a central location, i.e. Toronto and New York City (i believe it’s NYC)

Black Sunday
there were two sports travesties that occurred on Sunday, and I’m still torn as to which is worse.  There was the awful fumble call in the Broncos vs. Chargers football game in which the Chargers were handed a loss by the officials because they blew the whistle for no reason.  Even if they thought it was an actual pass, the ball went backwards, which would mean it was a lateral.  So in no...

1-0
that’s all that matters.  we have a one game lead over everyone in the NFC that starts the season 0-1.  love it.  i can now watch football highlights for the week. ps-as a Giants fan I’m not sold, but Brandon Jacobs is SICK.  sick!!  look at his per game numbers.  Us Big Blue fans just hope he can play a whole season.

Oh, Redskins
Was there a single positive with that game?   You can’t stop the pass.  Your coaching is terrible.  Portis, who won’t last 10 games, lead in rushing, and you let the ‘second best team in the division’ do whatever they want.  I said you guys might go 7-9, but the way this team and coaching staff looked, you might win 5.

Dear ESPN
lol, awesome.  so true.  erin is not tough to say, and every guy, and every person that follows ESPN knows who Erin is. shorterexcerpts: Send a memo out to your idiot Thursday night color guys (or, better yet, go ahead and fire Jesse Palmer.  Sure, until he gets another job, the hair gel companies will suffer, but he’s a brobdingnagian ass haberdasher) to stop calling Erin Andrews “EA.” EA is...

Washington Redskins
I’m sorry, but I have never seen worse clock management in my entire life.  I dont care if it’s a first year coach or not, you have to have someone in your ear making it clear to you how the clock is going to play out.  Not to mention their affinity for calling running plays while down two scores with 4 minutes left.  What is this guy thinking?  Someone please help me.  Or at least...

It's Christmas Eve
if you ask me.  Tomorrow is one of the best days of the year.  It’s football season.  And while every game makes me nervous being a Giants fan, I’ll never understand why the spread of the game against the Redskins tomorrow is only 3.5 or 4, depending on where you look.  It’s a home game for the Giants, they are the reigning Super Bowl Champions, and are playing what some would...

All's quiet in the talk about the non-Mets NL
I have noticed lately that things have gotten very quiet amongst the Phillies, Brewers and Cubs fans.  Could it be the Phillies can’t seem to gain any games on the Mets although our bullpen is horrendous right now and all four stars are yet to be hot at the same time?  Could it be the recent sweep of the Brewers after their talkative manager had just said he would rather win the wild card...

Phillies
Suck it.  Your manager couldnt be a bigger idiot.  Lidge is warming up and ready in the 8th inning and there’s two outs, the Delgado has an excellent history against the current pitcher, Rudy Seanez, yet you dont bring in Lidge until after Seanez lets up a homerun to Delgado. Genius.  Thanks for giving us first place back.

This Yankee season cracks me up.  See ya Cashman.  You have had the easiest job in sports for too long.  Put me in there and I’ll get a championship shorterexcerpts: This Red Sox-Yankees game is glorious stuff. Here’s to a post-season free of the Yankees, and the Braves streak of post-season appearances lasting for years to come.

The Series that ended 2008....
I know I sound pessimistic (how can you blame me?) but this series against the Philadelphia Phillies could be the Mets season.  First, they blow a 7-0 lead, and now they are losing with Johan Santana on the mound.  What makes it so bad is that it’s the Philadelphia Phillies.  Somehow, even the players are obtaining the qualities of the Philadelphians.  Jimmy Rollins just can’t stop...

Budweiser
I can’t help but notice the plethora of Budweiser commercials since their acquistion by that Belgium company.  It’s not even the quantity, it’s the fact that they have a new slogan ‘The Great American Lager’……..ya think they’re worried that Budweiser will lose it’s American ‘fan base’?

New York Yankees
Am I the only one who sees the hilarity in the fact that in a year where the Yankees are spending more than ever on their payroll, and spending hundreds of millions on a new stadium, they are going to miss the playoffs for the first time in 14 years, and can’t give ‘The Stadium’ the send off all Yankees fans feel it deserves.

Cubs vs. Brewers
both teams should have just had a handshake agreement not to trade for harden and sabathia, because both these guys have been so nasty and so dominating, yet just seem to cancel each other’s performances out. I just with CC was going to be around next year to continue this competition, they put on quite a performance.  Unfortunately, now that they Yankees may now make the playoffs, I would...

Osi
There are few guarantees in life, three are: death, taxes and a season ending injury to a Pro Bowl player during a preseason game.  Every year I pray it’s not someone on my team  Unfortunately it happened.  Osi Umenyiora tore his meniscus against the Jets (probably considered payback for the Chad Pennington injury 3 or 4 years ago) on Friday night.  The one luxury that we do have is that we...

Baltimore Orioles vs. Chicago White Sox
The two teams finished a game tonight that was suspended earlier in the year.  If you get a chance, watch Sportscenter and read about that application of stats from the game, as well as how they had to handle players that were ejected, pinch hit, now on DL, etc.  Here are some of my favorite parts regarding the game were: 1.  If Ken Griffey Jr. hit a homerun, it would have counted towards that...

:( Sorry to repeat, but even my grandmother who was misdiagnosed in January with having emphysema yet had lung cancer, still had more than 4 days.  I really have no words.  The story, to me, has nothing to do with his accomplishments, but the suddeness that life can smack you in the face.  4 DAYS!!, UGH Surround yourself with two types of people, those that challenge you to be the best you can...

Eagles Vs. Redskins
Completely healthy, the Eagles probably have it, but if they lose ONE of their stars they are done.  If they do, the Skins have a very solid chance of being one of the top 6 teams in the NFC.  Unless the G’ints are playing the Skins, i’m rooting for the Skins, for multiple reasons, I like the team, I want them to beat the rest of the division, and I know the Giants are just better.  In...

J-Roll, Utley, Howard, Burrell, Victorino, Hamels,...
you are a joke.  Not only do I hate everyone one of you, but now your own fans are starting to as well. I noticed lately that the 2007 MVP J-Roll, with his .261 average, 8 homers, 42 rbis, and 31 steals isn’t talking very much. BTW, Jose Reyes, .301 average, 13 homers, 53 rbis, and 40 steals. Hanley might be the best SS in the NL, but when it matters, we ALL know who is consistent from...

Gene Upshaw
I have respected him for what he has done as a Player’s Rep more than anyone in any sport BY FAR for a long time.  He has made legitimate changes without ruining the game (Unlike Donald Fehr) and has done wonderful things such as helping former players get the help that they need, and deserve, and turn the player’s union from a bankrupt joke to a just dynasty, and being a part of the...

Espn's Top 3 All Time Players for Each Team
maybe i’m a huge wuss, but every single night, after the mets win, and they show the top 3 players from every franchise, it seems to be someone from my junior high school days and actually makes me a little sad and miss it.  I’m not the kind of person who lives in the past and thinks about ‘the good times’, but it does make me miss the players like Rickey Henderson in his...

One last thing..
I think this every year, but never say it because they always manage to make a late run, but BYE BYE YANKS!  You have 2 teams ahead of you in the division and two ahead of you by 5 games in the loss column in the wild card.  Good luck catching two teams in either chase.  Cracks me up.  Along with probably every other non-Yankee fan in the country.

NFC East Preview
It’s obviously not going to be as cut and dry as I’m gonna make it sound, but if things go as I, and probably everyone else expects, this is what I believe will happen (based on teams I hate from most to the Giants): 1.  Philadelphia Eagles:  Donavan McNabb thinks this is a Super Bowl team.  How?  I don’t know.  Donavan McNabb when healthy is one of the best quarterbacks in...

MLB Umpires Approve Instant Replay →
This is the best thing to happen to baseball in a long time.  The parks nowadays are so multi-colored and multi-dimensional, that’s it makes it extremely difficult for the right calls to be made sometimes.  So I don’t completely blame the umpires with bad calls.  But, the one memory etched in my mind, is Yankee Stadium, Subway Series 08.  Carlos Delgado hits a homerun off the foul...

Al Reyes
So the Mets signed Al Reyes today to a minor league contract, and believe it or not, I’m extremely excited about this signing.  The Mets bullpen has been awful, I’ll be the first to admit it.  But I strongly believe it’s because of the roles everyone has been thrust into with the injury to Billy Wagner.  Al Reyes isn’t Jonathan Papelbon, I know, but the guy has closer...

Olympic Basketball
I have thoroughly enjoyed watching the Olympics, honestly more than I imagined I would have, YET, I have seen no more than 3 second clips of USA basketball, the second most thing I wanted to watch before the Olympics started. Milwaukee Brewers
I am a second rate Cubs fan probably, according to a normal Cubs fan, but I do root for them like crazy.  It’s semantics I guess since I’m a die hard Mets fan.  Either way, I actually feel bad for the Brewers and their fans.   The team can’t lose.  My favorite player is hurt, Ryan Braun.  YET, they can’t gain any games on the Cubs.  It’s almost funny but I’m...

Baseball vs. Football
I have a few friends that turn all attention away from baseball once football starts, and I can see where they are coming from because of the awesomeness of football, but I just cant agree.  I have invested almost 5 months now into this team, so in my mind, football doesnt start until my team, the Mets are out of it.  Am I the oddity in this?  I LOVE both sports more than you could imagine.  But....

Away for the weekend
Hey all, I’m heading to PA in 4 hours to be with my 3 favorite women in the world, until Sunday.  I’ll holler then. PS-Two straight wins for the Mets, which I will say is because Heilman didn’t pitch.  But congrats to Brian Stokes for taking advantage of the three inning save rule and getting his first of his career.

Top 5 Best Athletes
Granted this is from an American point of view, but after seeing these Olympics, I firmly believe these guys are the top 5 (and really in no particular order considering the difference in their sports): 1. Two things: once again i’m addicted to watching the Olympics.  And I looked forever trying to find pics, and just can’t.  Anyway, if you have watched Swimming, can you please tell me how with the one piece bathsuits that both sexes are wearing, how is possible that putting a male swimmer and a female swimmer next to each other, it would be a 50/50 guess who the female is? So Odd..
Part II-why did I have a dream last nite where i was having a charity pick up game of basketball for underprivileged kids?  The weird part was that George W. Mark Spitz is Michael Phelps' biggest fan
HA.  Oh Mark Spitz.  I wish I could say I lost a little respect for you this day, but since I know nothing about you besides your medal record, I can’t really say that I have.  How can you come out and blame all these various agencies for not flying you out on their dime, to view your own personal records being broken?  If you are going to be so self-involved, can they not be as well and be...

Best Job in the World
While this is an extremely arguable topic, I believe I have narrowed in down to the following three positions in reverse order: 3.  My doorman.  You may say that the position does not pay very well, and I would have to agree.  BUT, this man does nothing.  Make no mistake about it when I say he does nothing.  This evening, it’s a beautiful evening, so the front doors to my apartment building...

How he is a major league pitcher is beyond me.  He just cannot put together a few straight appearances without giving up a lead.  It wouldn’t bother me THAT much if he looked like he cared even a little.  I have not had this much disdain for a Met player since Mel Rojas.  How many games does he have to move us out of the playoff race before he gets yanked out of any position of importance in...

Ladies of New York City
Each day I head to Grand Central for work in what seems just like an adult version of people flocking to the center of a college campus for class.  Each day on this walk, I go through what seems to be an obstacle course between avoiding such things as the people who didn’t learn in Kindergarten that you should walk to the right, and when it rains, trying to avoid the women who carry those...
