This is the best thing to happen to baseball in a long time. The parks nowadays are so multi-colored and multi-dimensional, that’s it makes it extremely difficult for the right calls to be made sometimes. So I don’t completely blame the umpires with bad calls. But, the one memory etched in my mind, is Yankee Stadium, Subway Series 08. Carlos Delgado hits a homerun off the foul pole. The original call is a homerun, the correct call. Only to be overridden and called foul. I have never seen a worse call in my entire life, based solely on the fact that one umpire came in and overruled the correct call by saying he saw something that was obviously imaginary. Congrats to baseball for doing the right thing. I know we dont want to slow down games, but for those who truly care about sport, I don’t mind waiting 4 minutes for the correct, like the NFL has been doing for years.
